Job Title: Enterprise Software Application Tester

Hours per Week: 40.00 Standard from 8:00am-5:00pm (Hours and Days may vary to include evenings and weekends)

Summary: Under limited supervision, works with the web solutions architect, senior web developers, and application testing team to test and/or develop windows and web-based applications based on customer requirements.
Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and/or test solutions that are university wide that affect areas such as but not limited to Student Business Services, Financial Aid, Parking and Transportation Services, Admissions, and Graduate School.
Provides technical assistance in troubleshooting and correcting performance problems; responds to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions.
Works with the Manager, Web Solutions Architect and Senior Web Developer to provide estimations of task duration during the project-planning phase.
Responsible for developing and/or testing large-scale web based applications using 3-Tier software architecture (Presentation, Business Logic, and Data Access Layers).
Responsible for reviewing software functionality requirements, identifying test cases, and testing the product.
Responsible for utilizing source control management tools such as GIT and issue tracking tools such as JIRA.
Ability to identify software failures, anomalies, issues, and report them.
Assists in the development and/or testing of prototypes and functional specifications for software projects.
Assists and/or writes/executes testing scripts, running manual and/or automated tests, testing in different platforms including web and mobile, designs tests to mitigate risks, and communicates results to technical and non-technical colleagues.
Implements and/or tests the graphical layout designs based on the artistic staff’s specifications design document for custom applications.
Assists in the development and/or testing of windows and web based solutions.
Supports projects through the entire lifecycle (SDLC) including design, development, testing, and production release.
Responsible for assisting in code reviews’ problem solving, and gives feedback on how to improve windows and web-based solutions.
Responsible for providing feedback on new coding standards, technologies and trends in design, development, delivery and product testing.
Provides assistance in the implementations of complex off-the-shelf components or applications requiring custom development.
Develops solutions based on functionality requirements, which are technical strategies that enable e-business solutions in support of University business functions.
Implements and/or test usability design.
Works with the Database Administrators and the Web Solutions Architect on the design, development, testing, and implementation of custom applications.
Follows applicable software development processes, policies, procedures, and coding standards.
Identifies system deficiencies and will work with the Manager, Senior Web Developer and Web Solutions Architect to identify the solutions.
Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects, prioritized by senior personnel.
Works to meet all development and/or testing deadlines while consistently delivering high-quality products; prioritizes and executes multiple tasks effectively.
Ability to work under pressure due to tight deadlines.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Able to use excellent writing (reporting issues, fixes and/or application instruction), communication, presentation, consulting skills and critical thinking skills; be well organized, detail-oriented.
Complies with all State and University policies.
