The Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) currently has vacancies for Solution Developers of varying levels on a permanent basis in the Information Management Technology Division (IMTD). The role involves implementing technical solutions based on detailed functional and high-level technical designs. As programmers typically work in teams, candidates will need the ability to communicate clearly and be confident in expressing their own ideas.
The Solution Developer conducts development work to deliver IT solutions that meet the business needs and can be supported as required. This primarily involves coding and unit testing. In addition, Solution Developers provide specialist 3rd line application support and look for ways to continually improve the service the team provides.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts development activities and ensures the agreed development process is followed, principles are adhered to and components are reused wherever possible;
- Supports reviews of the integrity of development work undertaken by permanent and external resources, assuring the quality and compliance with designs and standards;
- Ensures that all deliverables are completed in a timely manner and to the appropriate level of quality so that the delivered solutions are fit-for-purpose and can be effectively supported;
- Follows all change control procedures and puts in place full version control and configuration management to ensure that the production service is not compromised;
- Provides input during the Initiate and defines the stages to help determine size and scope of future work;
- Supports the Lead Solution Developer in determining whether solutions will be delivered internally or externally and supports the selection of external development services and technical solutions, negotiating contracts as required;
- Works with the Solution Designers to assess the system requirements and specifications;
- Provides development input to the (Outline) Solution Design and supports production of the technical design;
- Supports the creation and maintenance of application documentation so that support can be efficiently performed and the impact of future change requests can be assessed;
- Provides Specialist 3rd line support for applications;
- Helps to ensure the Development function is focused on quality and looks for ways to improve processes and tools.
