Why Konrad Group?
At Konrad you’ll have the opportunity to work on many different types of projects, sometimes within your comfort zone, and sometimes outside of it. We strive to have the strongest team in technology and have yet find a problem that we couldn’t solve, which is why we don’t nail ourselves down to a particular stack or platform (although we do have our personal favourites). We have an extremely talented development team who work closely together, typically in small teams of 2-4. This creates a very collaborative and friendly environment that allows everyone to contribute by sharing their area-of-expertise. Personal development is encouraged by your colleagues and our weekly knowledge expanding “power hours”.
Our office culture is very much driven by our software developers, so we enjoy talking tech, magic the gathering, and board games. We also get pretty competitive with our foosball and super smash bros, so be sure to jump in at lunch and take on the champs. Other perks include catered Friday lunch, snacks in cupboards, drinks in the fridge, and a device plan. If you’re an athletic type, we’re always looking for new additions to the KG Royals softball and hockey teams!
What Kind of Projects Will I Be Working On?
We work with a bunch of big brands that you might recognize as well as a few others you might not, but we always try to work on interesting technology problems. Our sites and apps are typically responsive, cross-browser, and use the latest and greatest in design trends and patterns.
On the web team you’ll be working on a lot of web applications, sometimes they are front end JavaScript apps that connect to APIs, sometimes we are making the whole solution end-to-end and it’s a .NET or Ruby on Rails full stack app. Most projects will require a mix of both backend and frontend knowledge. Right now, we like to work with AngularJS, Backbone, and ReactJS. How about you?
Who Are We Looking For?
- You possess the qualities necessary to work in a team environment, that also means you have no issues explaining complex problems to both technical and non-technical folks.
- You have strong opinions on what you think is the best way to act on a roadblock or issue, but your opinions aren’t held strongly enough to not consider a teammates idea as a better alternative.
- You have great attention to detail, and a good eye for what looks sharp and what doesn’t. This includes your code.
- You know a few web programming languages, JavaScript being one of the most prominent and well known language in your arsenal. You can explain the good parts and the not-so-good parts of our favourite scripting language.
- You know how to work in source control with teammates, particularly in Git.
- You take a sense of pride in your work and enjoy putting in those extra bits of polish on an app before you ship it out the door. But not at the expense of shipping it!
- You’re more than just a developer! You’re a basketball player, a golfer, a bowler, a gamer, an avid reader, you’re the world’s most interesting person.
