A day at Snappet as a Full Stack Developer/Front-end Developer
“Good morning!” It’s around nine or ten in the morning when you enter the Snappet premises and you greet your colleagues cheerfully. The early birds – perhaps even you – have already turned on the coffee machine, allowing you to get your daily fix to start the day. Your office outfit merely consists of the required good mood and persistent drive.
The day starts with a new challenge, like every day. You build responsive front-ends using different technologies and frameworks, like CSS/LESS, KnockoutJS and jQuery.
Since we work using the scrum methodology, there is a daily stand-up meeting at noon with our Russian colleagues to discuss all updates and statuses on items you’re working on and need to be handled. Fast forward to demo Thursday, three weeks ahead: you and your colleagues proudly present your work to one another.
After working the entire morning and finishing that daily meeting you feel your stomach yearning for fuel. It’s lunchtime at 12.30 pm. Whether you get your favourite sandwich at Utrecht Central Station, or use our company restaurant is completely up to you.
After recharging your inner battery you’re good to go for another work session. Your aim is to finish coding on time in order for your colleague to perform a code review on your work. This helps you to tackle possible mistakes. After the review you discuss some improvement suggestions, as we're always open to them.
Before you know it time’s up. Whereas one may go home immediately, the other may join their colleagues for some after-work drinks or other activities. Needless to say you’re completely free to make up your own mind about joining or not.
When you get back home you feel that today was a productive day that gave you another energy boost. See you tomorrow!
