Sustaining Software Engineers are highly prized team members that carry the task of maintaining our flagship product here at Medidata. Sustaining Software engineers are responsible for supporting our core system, and hence, our core business. They implement hot-fixes for released products, and escalated customer service issues.
This team digs deep into perfecting the code base of our flagship product. We are more sculptor than a carpenter and are tasked with the mission critical job of maintaining, and at times, restructuring the most important code base in the organization. Handling customer requests and investigating our large code base allows our engineers to add an incredibly unique and valuable part of the Medidata team.
We are expected to move quickly to investigate and resolve engineering problems in our software, which in turn are causing issues in the development of new medicines for our customers. This can include, but is not limited to, performance issues or defects in the current product suite that are causing immediate concern for our customers, and need to be rectified in a regulated production environment.
In addition, we coordinate and work with multiple departments internally, which includes, but is not limited to, SQA, Product Management, Customer Care, and Professional Services to gather information, assess scope of impact, manage issue resolution, develop fixes, and roll-out updates to the existing products. We work in a collaborative team environment that spans multiple time zones globally.
