We are looking for a smart, innovative, and results-oriented Software Development Manager who is excited by unique challenges and is passionate about using the latest technologies to solve customers’ needs.

The candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the enterprise systems space, and will help us manage and grow a small, diverse technical team. As the development manager, you will have technical ownership of both in-house and third party legal information management systems and enterprise tools aimed at creating a legal self-service environment. You'll lead a talented and nimble team of engineers to create innovative ways to simplify and advance the current legal systems structure. Responsibilities include direct management of a 5+ technical team, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. The legal business requires creative engineering balanced with high quality and customer focus. This role calls for a hands on leader who enjoys coding alongside his team.

This position will be working with a mix of systems and technologies with an emphasis on new-build web application development. We utilize a mix of development frameworks/tools (C#/Asp.Net, Java, MS SQL) as well as leveraging the latest in cloud platform technologies via Amazon Web Services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 2+ years people management experience
  • Experience with OOD and object oriented languages
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C# or Java
  • Ability to code and contribute to on-going development is expected

  • Deep hands-on technical expertise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
  • Experience working with legal teams or legal software
