Are you passionate about Distributed Version Control and the workflows it enables?  Are you the person at your company leading the charge away from Centralized Version Control systems towards technologies like Git or Mercurial?  Here at the Visual Studio Online Services development team in Raleigh/Durham, NC we're building the next generation of Git tools and we could use your help.  We're in the process of building best-in-class git tooling and workflows for all development platforms both on your client and in the Visual Studio Online cloud.  We're also actively pushing hard on git's scale limits - both on the client and in the cloud - in order to enable large teams and enterprises to get the same DVCS benefits that small teams have been benefiting from.

In addition to having a passion for DVCS and developer workflows, we’re looking for a talented developer who seeks big challenges as part of a strong team.  This opportunity allows you to 1) work across the entire git stack (Git for Windows, libgit2, Visual Studio integration, our custom git server hosted in Azure and/or our git web workflows), 2) work with and learn from some of the best engineers in the industry, and 3) have a big impact on the software development industry.

Visual Studio Online provides software development teams with version control, build automation, project and bug management, social engineering experiences and more. We use agile development methods and ship new features every three weeks to VisualStudioOnline.com, which is built on Azure and growing fast with 3M users already.

VSO makes use of a wide range of technologies, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn new stuff from industry experts and go deep or broad. Our key technologies are C#, Azure, SQL, and ASP.NET including MVC and REST on the backend. On the front end we use jQuery, JavaScript and TypeScript to build out an awesome user experience on the web, WPF for VS, and SWT for Eclipse and IntelliJ.

VSO is at the center of our cloud-based development experience. If you enjoy building software with a broad range of technologies and being part of a smart, agile team that’s making software development better, join the VSO team!

Key Responsibilities:

Implement complex features and components and support them at scale

Contribute to the DevOps lifecycle for Customer Acquisition & Engagement team

Improve technical excellence by evaluating, defining and evangelizing engineering best practices.

Collaborate with teams across Microsoft.
