McMurdo, Inc is searching for a Lead Software Engineer for our Washington DC (Lanham, MD) location for the Marine Fleet Management Division.
McMurdo Fleet Management provides software and satellite communication solutions to the maritime industry and has served thousands of workboat and commercial fishing vessels since 1990. McMurdo solutions include narrow-band and broadband satellite communication products together with software that delivers compelling money-saving and time-saving operational efficiencies. We operate satellite communication systems for the maritime industry maintaining a 24/7/365 operation that customers rely on for their livelihood. The Lead Software Engineer will manage a team of developers driving the development of hosted, web based SaaS applications serving users of McMurdo satellite communications and positioning systems. The Lead Software Engineer will work with a product manager to identify compelling features and capabilities to build. The role includes prototyping, designing, coding, documenting, testing and deployment of operational systems. This position is also responsible for building a team of developers to assist in the build out and operation of this 24/7 customer-critical system.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Software Development- develop web based applications and client applications, delivering messaging and mapping features for both desktop and mobile users; write server-side code; design and build developer APIs
Management- Lead and motivate a team of developers to work on the Marine Fleet Management software.
