As Intelligent Editing’s employee number one, you’ll have a wide set of responsibilities and the opportunity to contribute across as much of the business as interests you. Intelligent Editing produces software for editing/proofreading, and you’ll develop the next phase of our website and manage the transformation of our software (PerfectIt) to a SaaS model.
You’ll work with a wide array of technologies (some of which you probably won’t be familiar with when joining). So a desire and ability to learn new tools is essential. We’re looking for a self-starter who will focus on new development, but who will also chart a course to improve our existing codebase. You’ll be working directly with the founder & CEO, and you’ll manage all development work to improve the quality of what we do. You’ll establish testing, reviews and other quality control mechanisms to allow the company to grow in the long term.
From the first day, you’ll be given a lot of responsibility, so you must be able to work and get things done independently. Although the core role is development, you shouldn’t be afraid to pitch in where needed (including admin, sales and support). In return, you’ll become well versed in a full set of skills valuable to any (or your own) startup.
Duties and Responsibilities
You will:
- Develop an API and web interface for a cloud version of PerfectIt (our proofreading software)
- Build a user interface for online versions of PerfectIt
- Develop new apps for online Office and add-ons for Google Docs
- Contribute to the development of the next version of PerfectIt
- Redesign our internal word usage databases
- Improve our website and manage its server
- Work on e-commerce
- Put in place quality control mechanisms to improve our codebase.
