Software Developer


Required Qualifications: (Evidenced by attached resume)


Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of degree, four [4] years of directly related full time experience, or a combination of higher education and experience totaling four [4] years may be considered. Three (3) years of applicable full-time programming experience to include software development in C#, Java, Ruby, Python or application web development and experience computing troubleshooting. Proficient in ASP.NET or other web application frameworks, Object Relational Mapping (ORM) technologies, Database Creation and Maintenance, Remote Desktop, RDBMS, SQL. Must be able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance and able to effectively translate functional business requirements into technical specifications. Must be able to multi-task across projects.


Preferred Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.


Experience working professionally creating and designing with a web application framework (e.g. ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET, Django, Spring MVC, JSP, Ruby on Rails, etc)


Experience doing front end development of web applications, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM manipulation, and AJAX.


Experience using source control (TFS, Mercurial, Git, Perforce, SVN, etc). Mobile application development.


Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.


Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as collaboration skills.


MCSD: Web Applications – (certified/recertified within the last two year)



Primary Purpose/Brief Description of Duties:


This position is responsible for the software development and ongoing support of highly critical and complex systems for the desktop, web, mobile and batch applications. This includes all aspects of software development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation and maintenance.


Duties:



  • Develop, maintain and support the following systems including, but not limited to:


Facilities Project Management


Facilities Project Analysis


Facilities Project Reporting


Mobile Parking Ticketing


Service Interruption Notices


Web Sites/Form Creation



  • Using the various technologies and frameworks identified in required and preferred qualifications.

  • Develop, maintain and support desktop, web, mobile and batch applications. This includes all aspects of software development, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation and maintenance. Develop software involving the use of MS SQL database server and Oracle back-end databases. Create Crystal Reports.

  • Contribute to improving the organization's development environment, thus assisting other programmers in the development of software. This includes the set-up, maintenance, and configuration of the following applications and technologies: 


JIRA


Bamboo Build Server


NuGet


Mercurial


Bitbucket


ASA MVCStarter


ASA Interfaces


ASA MVCDependencyInjection


ASA BatchUtilities


ASA Continuous Integration


This also includes the research of new, useful technologies to improve the development environment, which affects the efficiency of the team as a whole and should  strive to share any new concepts/technologies with the rest of the development team.



  • Act as a second-level mentor for the organization's student developers with developing and maintaining desktop, web, and mobile applications, including all the aspects of software development mentioned above and any current software development projects.  

  • This includes providing both hands-on and hands-off training to the student developers so that they learn all required skills necessary to complete their development tasks.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.


Special Notes: Attach resume and cover letter. This is a full time appointment.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such are required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are cancelled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
